About us

We help business owners who have a great product but aren't reaching new customers the way they expect.

Our clients want marketing that helps them get more leads, clients, and sales.

Read about what we do, why we do it, and our short history.

We work with clients who:

  • Are great at business but lack marketing
  • Are obsessed with offering the best product, service, and experience to their customers
  • Feel they are not able to communicate with customers

What we do

Attract new customers without in-house marketing.

We build a scalable marketing machine for business owners and help them manage it so they can get more leads, clients, and sales.

We don't partake in fiction marketing where we make up stories to sell your product.

If you have a great product, there's a unique reason why your ideal customer should choose you. That's what we'll help you uncover and communicate.

A lot of business owners are great at creating a product but don't always have the skills to communicate the reason it's a great product.

Why we do what we do

Business owners have a hard enough time building a profitable business.

Their marketing should make profitability easier instead of creating speed bumps.

Too many agencies design websites to impress the business owner instead of converting the website visitor into a paying customer.

Web design and marketing is expensive but often dollars and cents are spent on things that don't produce profits. For example, fancy animations look cool but don't help convert visitors into customers.

Sliders look modern and can put more information in front of the visitor but they usually water down the message and slow down the website. They distract the visitor from the action leading to a sale. They are also expensive to design.

These expensive design choices hurt profitability. So we avoid them and in some cases refuse to work on projects if those are requirements for the project.

If you notice, the TD website is simple. It's basic. And it's easy to navigate, understand, and click, click, click fast.

The time and money went into making it scalable and maintainable and messaging that converts instead of "fancy" or "cool" designs.

Our team

Should you trust a team of two?

It's a real question and something you need to think about.

With a team of two, we can't build 20 websites per year or work with 20 new clients. But we can build 4-6 websites with the focus and detail needed to reach your goals.

We also work with outside contractors who are more skilled than we are in areas like logo design.

At this point, as of January 2026, we don't have plans to bring on more team members. We plan to keep it lean and mean for now.

Our team is ready for action!

History

Here's what we've been doing over the years.

We didn't start out designing websites or helping small businesses with digital marketing.

Even though Reuben has been building websites and helping small businesses with marketing since 2011, it all looks very different now compared to then.

Here's a quick rundown of the journey.

2009: The beginning

When Reuben started Touchdown Tech, in 2009, he started offering computer repair and IT services only—no digital marketing.

Then one day a customer asked if he'd build a website for them 🤔.

Since that first website, built on Squarespace, it's been a slow but consistent process of improving the craft of web design, development, and marketing.

2015: Switched from Joomla to WordPress

Started using WordPress and designed first WooCommerce store.

2018: Understand the power of story

Stories are fun. At school, Reuben always looked forward to story time after lunch. Reading Building a StoryBrand by Donald Miller provided a framework for using story in marketing.

2021: From static to dynamic

This was a major shift in building scalable and maintainable websites. There's multiple areas where scalability and maintainability are won or lost.

Understanding how to store and organize data so there is a single source of truth makes our job easier and the sites more useful for clients.

This shift meant we completely changed our tech stack.

We continued to use WordPress because it is a great content management system if different types of content (products, FAQs, reviews, articles, etc) are organized on the backend with custom post types and custom fields.

We went away from using page builders, like Elementor, and switched to development software (e.g. Bricks and Etch) that support and assist building scalable and maintainable websites.

Apart from the tech stack switch, this also meant investing in education to improve CSS and semantic HTML so that search engines could efficiently read and understand the webpage.

2024: Hired first employee

To serve customers better, Nicholas joined the team as the head of content. His job is to create quality content to help customers get more traffic and grow their online authority.

We are constantly working on improving our craft. That means getting better at design, development, and messaging.

My goal is to build something for customers that blows them out of the water today and can be built on top of 5 years from now.

Customer reviews

Don’t take our word for it.

Here are quotes from customers who have worked with us.

  • …in the last few days I’ve had at least 2 people said that they were buying from us because of the website.

They said it’s professional and easy to navigate.  They said they dealt with some really crazy websites that were awful.

So yea definitely the website is paying off.  Thanks.

  • We reached out to get a quote on launching a website and got a response within 24 hours and an example webpage to begin editing in the next 2 weeks. Very pleased with the response time and how easy it was to edit the webpage.
